mindless.. future endless.. adsorb all the information you need and get out.. a quick one while he's away.. caught some interest male rock last week..
interpol - 4 young lads wanking off the manchester sound of the late 70's.. yes joy division lackeys... this does not mean its not enjoyable, quite the opposite - best album of the year possibly..
calla and the walkmen - calla took the quiet stage and slowly unwound their complex tunes before mine eyes.. swirling guitars and deep vocals that sway back and forth until explosions the sky knock you over.. and of course the walkmen, brooklyn's proud warriors with a sick lead singer the night i saw them.. they continued to put on an intense set for the kids who kinda danced and sang along to the already U2-like anthems.. would see them again anytime seeing as the drumming live is much faster and the singing more intense, oh they covered the kinks "come dancing" - lucky us.
calvin johnson, the microphones, and wolf colonel - K records extravaganza at maxwells.. jason (wolf colonel) sang about indie rock girls and the smiths with such a huge smile on his face the crowd enjoyed it.. but when phil (the microphones) took the stage with a clothespin in his hair the audience went wild.. and he told us he wanted to start off with the loud numbers and ease his way down to a hush.. we got to hear most of his last album "the glow pt 2" one of the best albums of last year and he through in some new stuff: "lanterns" and "antlers" yipee! then mr calvin johnson hits up the stage in the usual white shirt and blue cuffed jeans.. a forty-nine year old kid who sings about kissing and lightning rods.. just an acoustic guitar, some free style dancing and a question and answering period.. cant wait to see him again tonight when he plays new brunswick..
the new brits are loud as hell.. as i read my book on the bus back from class yesterday a boy in jock get up started a shouting conversation with his chum about sports.. all the girls instantly melted, i mean they actually grabbed their chests in awe. i found this quite pathetic and tried to concentrate on reading. i mean i was wearing headphones as well and i could still here his accent piercing through.. i take these all as signs that sophie is near me.. like each british person i talk to or run into is a reminder that she is ok and around me at all times.. more later on my housing situation and music reviews too..
